3 Daft Monkeys and The Trouble Notes announce UK double headline tour
3 Daft Monkeys (UK) and The Trouble Notes (DE) have announced a UK double headline tour, bringing together two major world folk festival acts known for fiddle-led, high-energy live performances, with each show featuring individual sets and onstage collaboration.
“For us, this kind of show is about bringing different traditions into the same space,” says Bennet Cerven, fiddle player with The Trouble Notes. “There’s punk energy in it, there’s traditional world-folk roots in it, and there’s a real sense of community when you put those things together. There’s also an element of freedom and rebellion in playing music this way -not fitting neatly into one box. When it works, it lifts the room, gets people moving, and creates something bigger than just a set of songs.”
The idea of the tour came together after the bands met backstage at a festival in Cornwall last summer and discovered a shared approach to performance and audience connection.
“We’d heard great things about The Trouble Notes from our fans, particularly about the energy of their live shows,” says Athene Roberts, fiddle player in Cornwall-based 3 Daft Monkeys. “Both bands are high energy, fiddle-led and have their own distinctive and original sound. When we finally met backstage last summer, it felt like a natural fit. Within minutes of talking, the idea of touring together came together. And it’s such an exciting idea -we’ll each bring our own sets to the night, then see where it takes us when we come together onstage. We barely know what to expect ourselves -it’s going to create some pretty unique musical bridges!”
In a challenging climate for independent touring acts, the tour also highlights collaboration over competition and supports independent UK venues -including a date at the subterranean Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall.
“Carnglaze is an extraordinary setting,” says Tim Ashton, 3 Daft Monkeys’ guitarist and lead vocalist. “It had been a dream of ours to play there, and it felt like the right place for our bands to come together. We’ve played the other venues on the tour before too, and they all have their own special feel and unique audiences.”
You can catch both bands at the following dates:
Thursday 30th April : Half Moon, Putney, London
Friday 1st May : The Attic, Southampton
Sunday 3rd May : Carnglaze Caverns, Liskeard, Cornwall
Monday 4th May : The Louisiana, Bristol
